US Congressman. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, attended local public schools, and then was educated in the study of medicine at the prestigious Beaumont Hospital Medical College in St. Louis, Missouri. After college, he founded the Wagoner Undertaking Company in St. Louis, Missouri, and was also the company's president. He also dabbled in real estate pursuits and became secretary and treasurer of the H.H. Wagoner Realty Company in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1902, he successfully contested the election of United States Representative of James Joseph Butler to the 57th Congress. A Republican, he then served out the final week of Butler's term representing Missouri's 12th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from February 26, 1903, to March 4, 1903. Ironically when his term ended, he was succeeded by Butler, who then went on to serve in the United States Congress for another two years. After his short time in politics, he returned to his real estate and undertaking pursuits. He passed away in St. Louis, Missouri, from complications relating to uremia (kidney disease) at the age of 82, and was buried in the famous Bellefontaine Cemetery.
