Mrs. Cecilia A. Hughes Mrs. E.P. Hughes died at her home in Anoka early Monday morning, aged over eighty-years. Death was due to pneumonia. Cecilia Andrews was born in Oakland County, Michigan, Sept 2. 1842, the daughter of Amasa and Mary Comstock Andrews. She came to Hudson, Wis., with her parents when she was but ten years of age, and attended school in Hudson. In October, 1871 she was married to Edwin P. Hughes and they moved to Minneapolis in 1876. For six years they resided in Little Falls and Minneapolis and in 1882 moved to Anoka, where Mr. Hughes practiced law till his death in 1913. One daughter was born of them, Mabel E., and she was united in marriage to Col. Paul Giddings in 1903 and died in Dec. 1914. Mrs. Hughes had been a member of the Baptist church since 1862, and was always active in church and missionary work. She was in her place in church when able to be there. She was a life member of the Philolecian of Anoka. Of a family of seven brothers and sisters, only on brother survives, James A. Andrews, who has been with her this winter. Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church this afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Butler officiating. Mrs. Hughes was one of the happiest of women. No matter how serious life was, she had a smile and a steady, cheerful optimism that not only cheered those with whom she came in contact, but actually helped them. She was a sweet, lovely woman, and her passing away is a district loss
