Library of Congress Card Number 83-50032
Marriage to Patience Tansil in Wake Co, NC on Oct 20, 1822.
The family relocated to Weakley County in West Tennessee and established their home on the road between Dresden and Sharon where they raised 11 children.
After twenty-five years in Weakley Co, the Rogers's family made a second pioneer trip -- this time to east Texas. The one who planned this move westward was his son Calvin Job. Thus, John Wesley and Patience made two pioneer trips -- one to Tennessee and later to Texas.
In Texas, John Wesley established a ferry across the Sabine River, built grist and lumber mills. The few years that he lived in Texas must have been strenuous ones and he must have taxed his energy as he was in Texas only four years when he died in 1852 at the home of his son, Calvin Job Rogers, near Hallsville - at the age of 54.
