Author, Music Critic. He was a founding member of the International Society for Contemporary Music. He studied literature and philosophy in Breslau, Innsbruck, Florence and Bern. He received his doctorate in philosophy and became high school professor. His was teaching, but he soon went to Berlin and worked as a music critic. Already in 1907, he was known for the biography of George Bizet. In 1911, he published a significant work "Berlin as a city of music since 1740," in which his historical overview of the musical events in the capital. He then wrote a comprehensive biography of Frederic Chopin (1912), a work which has to this day a working basis for all biographers of the Polish composer. His other works includes: "The Virtuoso" (1920), "Verdi" (1922), "Giacomo Puccini" (1922), "Music in the World Crisis" (1922) and "Music of the Senses" (1925). In 1927, Weissmann wrote his last great work, "Music Come to Earth." In February the following year he wrote an overview of the Berlin Opera's landscape, "Opera Berlin" (Stuttgart 1929).
