Mark Allen Gritts was born on January 28, 1952, in Tahlequah, OK the son of Levi and Mary (Ogle) Gritts Sr. Mark graduated from Tahlequah High School. Mark enjoyed watching any kind of sports from football to baseball and especially his favorite team, OU. He enjoyed being out of doors and going for long walks. Mark is remembered as being a quiet man, very gentle in nature with a generous and kind heart. He loved small children and babies and had a great way of getting along with them. He never sought to be the center of attention and was happiest just being with his family enjoying their company. On August 19, 2010, the Lord called Mark to his heavenly home in Tahlequah, with his family at his side after a long battle with cancer. He was 58 years old. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Those preceding Mark in death include his mother, Mary and his brother, Levi Gritts Jr. Those left to cherish his memory include his four loving sisters, Sandra Merrill of Gans, OK, Cynthia Humphries of Austin, TX, Karen Ryder of Tahlequah, OK and LuAnn Brown of Tahlequah, OK. He will be missed by his nephews, Robert Merrill, Raymond Merrill, Jonathan Pigeon and Boyce Merrill. His nieces include Susan Stauch, Amy Humphries, Gretchen Linch, Crystal Brown and Amber Brown , as well as many great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. The Gritts family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of W.W. Hastings Indian Medical Center and Grace Living Center for all the loving care Mark received during his illness. A special thank you to Professional Home Health Hospice staff, TC, Mary jo, Lori, and Debbie for their loving care. Mark leaves behind scriptures of comfort for his family and friends, John 11:25"I am the resurrection, and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me, shall never die."He also leaves the scripture John 14: verses 1 thru 3: "Let not your heart be troubled, Ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also. " Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the Swimmer Baptist Cemetery with Pastor L. B. Wildcat officiating. Reed~Culver Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
