ADVANCE (David) NC - Mrs. Betty Barnes Plott, 81, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Advance, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 27, 1927 in Davie County to James David and Mattie Jane Minor Barnes.

Preceding her in death are five brothers, Calvin, Homer, Green, Jay and Howard Barnes and four sisters, Annie McCarter, Alma Hardiman and Sallie (infant) and Mary Louise (infant).

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, J.H. Plott, Jr; two daughters, Gail Walker and Nancy Harpe and husband Arnie and a son, David Plott; five grandchildren, Jonathan Walker and wife Kathy, Janet McIntyre and husband Ricky, Joe Harpe and wife Jessica, Emily Cornatzer and husband Scott and Read Plott; five great grandchildren, Gabriel, Levi, Jack and Teo Walker and Wyatt Harpe; two brothers, Thomas Barnes and wife Edna and Coy Barnes and wife Nan; loving caregivers, Doris Sloan, Carolyn Bright, Brenda Patterson, Penny Robbins and Carol Lewis and a special friend, Evelyn Hunter who faithfully delivered tapes of weekly church services at Macedonia Moravian Church.

A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Macedonia Moravian Church, where she was a member, with the Reverend Jeff Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard.

The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home of Mr. Plott. Special thanks to Dr. Martin Murphy and staff of Winston-Salem Health Care and to Dr. Laura Foster and staff of Carolina Urological Associates for their loving care and attention. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Moravian Church, 700 NC Hwy 801 N., Advance, NC 27006.
