Mrs. Wilma Lackey Sloan, 84, of 116 Morrison Flat Road, died Sunday at her residence.
She was a native of Alexander County, born June 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Milas A. and Blandina Lackey. She was retired from Uniglass Industry.
Mrs. Sloan was twice married, first to James F. Sherrill, who preceded her in death in 1978, and second to Coyte O. Sloan, who preceded her in death in 1987.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sloan and Jake Lackey, and two sisters, Mrs. Corrie Lackey and Mrs. Zeta Beam.
Mrs. Sloan is survived by four sons, Gary Lackey, Tony M.Sherrill and James Craig Sherrill, all of Statesville, and Keith Allen Sherrill of Gastonia; two daughters, Mrs. Sonna Massey of Harmony and Mrs. Karen A. Jarvis of Statesville; three step daughters, Mildred Murdock of Troutman, Dottie Poole of Mebane and Heleln Sallee of California. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Monticello Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Bobby Henderson and Rev. Glen Dancey. Interment will follow in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
Pall bearers will be Scott and Stephen Wingler, Jamie Jarvis, Josh and Junior Sherrill, and Justin and Kevin Sherrill. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Russell, William Mason and Jeff Holder.
