Funeral services for William H. Rudrauff of Kansas City MO a former resident of Burlington, KS, were held at 1 pm Tuesday from the Mellody-Gilley-Gylar funeral home at Linwood and Woodland in Kansas City. Canon William M Hargis of Grace and Holy Trinty Cathedral in Kansas City gave a fitting sermon, which was comforting to the relatives and friends who had gathered. Floyd S. Ecord of Burlington gave the Masonic funeral address. Two solo were sung "Rock of Ages" and "Onward Christian Soldier" Entombment was in the Pantheon at Forest Hill cemetery beside his daughter.
Active casket bearers were Park J. Shepp of Burlington and Kirk McDaniel, A.B. Shannon, Ed Moore, Warren Thurston, Elmer Morris and Robert Givens of Kansas City. Honorary bearers were from the McDaniel Title & Trust Co with which he had been associated with for more than a decade. They were John W. Carr, Harry Howard, George W. Hudson jr., Wilbur R. Lemley, John L. O'Brien, Paul B. Rogers, John L. Shouse,Jr. Harold D. Thomas, Chas. R. Frye and Albert Waggener.
William Henry Rudrauff was born October 31, 1868 in Philadelphia, PA and died Saturday evening, October 17, 1953 at his home at 4524 Nichols Parkway, Kansas City, MO.
Shortly after the Civil War, his father, a captain in the Union army brought his family overland to Ottumwa in Coffey Co. KS. While on this trip his mother passed away and is buried at Council Bluffs IA.
After several years in Ottumwa, the Rudrauff family moved to Burlington KS.
During WWI he entered Veterans Bureau work later was transfered into the Interior Department of Indian Service and was sent to the Sioux agency at Pine Ridge S.D. and afterward to the Osage agency at Pawhuska, OK
When he retired at the age of 70 the farmily returned to Kansas City where he entered the employee of the McDaniel Title & Trust Co. he was associated with this concern when he died.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Eva Kathleen in April 1928. Survivors are the wife Mrs Wm.H. Rudrauff and her mother Mrs Holly Jarboe of the home and the following neices and nephews, Mr & Mrs Howard Rudrauff, Independence KS, Mr & Mrs Roy Blassengame, Amarillo TX, Mr & Mrs John Rudrauff, Atlanta, GA, Mr & Mrs Floyd S. Ecord and Mr & Mrs Bill Batdorf Burlington, KS
