He grew up in Draper with his 13 brothers and sisters. His father had built a home in 1879 and as the family grew they had to add onto the house. It was finished in 1885.
He married Mable Thomson and they raised their children in Salt Lake City. At least that is to the best of my recollection. That is the only house I remember going to see them at.
Gurnsey hated his first name and so he asked to change it to George. So that is what he went by. I do not know if he legally had the name changed or not. His name Gurnsey was after his Grandfather who's name was Joseph Gurnsey Brown.
George passed away on May 6, 1968.
This is my Dad's big brother, my uncle and I remember him when I was growing up. I remember going to visit them in Salt Lake and of course at my Grandparents, as they lived next door to us, so we would get to see the Aunts and Uncles when they came to visit their father. I have only good memories of my Uncle George and know that he will never be forgotten. REST IN PEACE UNCLE GEORGE.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ANNE FOR THE TRANSFER OF MY UNCLE GEORGE TO ME.
