James Marion McCormick, 73, a resident of Modesto for the past twenty four years, died in a hospital here Saturday afternoon, May 17, 1941, after a short illness. James, a native of Mantua, Iowa, was born September 19, 1867 to James and Elizabeth Taylor McCormick.
McCormick, who made his home on the Waterford Road, was a member of the Independent Order Odd Fellows, Modesto lodge of Elks, First Methodist Church, Stanislaus County Farm Bureau, and the Associated Farmers.
Besides a widow, Mrs. Sadie M McCormick, he leaves a daughter, Lola McCormick Davis, and a sister, Mrs. Rosa Parker, all of Modesto.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Avis De Tar McCormick, whom he married September 10, 1891 in Iowa; and a son, Irwin McCormick.
Funeral services were held the morning of May 20 at 11 o'clock in the Shannon Chapel with Reverend George Harwell and Reverend Arthur Wallace officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows (Pioneer) Cemetery, Modesto.
