Isla Young was born at Blair, Wis., December 3, 1890. When she was a babe of 14 months her father passed away. Her mother, filled with sorrow, sought compassion and comfort in her own home. Her feelings were soothed by the hearty co-operation of her three children; Alvin, Lulu, and Isla. They worked in harmony, the family ties grew stronger, the sorrows of the past served as incentives for a still higher and better life, and hope reigned in the hearts of all. Isla, the youngest of the children, was educated in the Blair schools and completed the four-year course with the class of 1908. She then took up school teaching. Her first term was in a rural school near that village, but the following two years she spent in the third and fourth grades of her home school. Then she assumed charge of the same grades in the Alma Center schools, which position she held until she was seized with her fatal illness. Blessed with a tenderness so delicate, filled with a love for honesty and truth, imbued with an energy undaunted by failures and endowed with a beauty so striking and a personality so strong, she merited the high esteem of all who knew her. Upon the 24th of January, 1912 she became ill with cerebral meningitis.

Photo volunteer states that it appears that her memorial is on the headstone of her father Henry A Young but is so degraded it is not possible to be sure of the name.
