Francis R. Shuman, 92, of Meadowbrook Lane, Carrollton, died Aug. 14 in his home following a brief illness.

Born in Jacksonburg, WVA, Sept. 25, 1917, he was a son of the late Huey and Nellie Gray Shuman.

He was a retired operating engineer for the International Union of Operating Engineers of West Virginia. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Unionport Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Warner, whom he married Sept. 27, 1983; three sons, Francis "Gene" and Julie Shuman of Carrollton, Charles and Mary Shuman of Carrollton, Albert Clark "Butch" and Kathy Shuman of Carrollton; one daughter, Rebecca May Fultz of North Carolina; one brother, Floyd Shuman of Carrollton; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one grandson.

Funeral services were held Aug. 18 in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home with Rev. David Miller officiating. Cremation and burial in Westview Cemetery will follow at at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association of Community Hospice of Carroll County.
