Oldest son of Brown & Barbara Hosier Searl. When he was 16 the family moved to settle on Searl's Ridge in 1834 (then Putnam County, IL)

Married Martha Ann (Davis) 17 April 1842 in Bureau County, IL.

Timothy was in the mercantile business and moved to Pleasanton, Kansas in 1862, where he lost everything in the Civil War when General Sterling Price raided and looted that part of Kansas, during the Civil War October 1864. He moved back to Bureau County in 1870 and then eventually they next moved to settle in 1879 in Harlan Township, Page County, IA, farming 1885 in Clarinda, Page County, IA. His sister Malissa also settled in the area with her husband J H Hoskins and family and near their mother's Hosier family were living.

Timothy died in Clarinda, Page County, IA, of diabetes at the age of 76y 10m.

Buried in Hazelwood Addition 15 October 1895 in Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Page County, IA, with his wife and son Alpheus 'Alp' next to him.
