She earned a bachelor of arts degree in botany from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas and a masters of science in botany from Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. in 1942. She married Kenneth A. Bath on August 26, 1946. She taught at Incarnate Word High School and Christopher College, Corpus Christi in the 1960s and 1970s. Clare and her family moved to San Antonio in 1981. She was survived by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth A. Bath; a son of Melbourne, Florida; and a daughter of San Antonio, another daughter of San Antonio, and a daughter of Kenai, Alaska. She was also survived by her aunt, Eleanor Kelly of Corpus Christi and three sisters, Jeanne Whelan of Austin, Cecilia Embry of Corpus Christi, and Patricia Williams of Corpus Christi.
