A short time after the death of Sam, Cilva hit her head on the fireplace hearthstone in the home she was staying at. This injury caused her to go blind. The family sent her to a school for the blind in Nashville, Tennessee. After staying there for awhile, she was sent home to visit. She stayed a few days and all seemed well. However the day that she had left for school, the family was told she was dead and had been buried. No one in the family ever learned what had happened to Cilva .
