LONGVIEW - Dr. Paul R. Bauman, 97, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2005.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, in the Speer Chapel on the LeTourneau University campus. Arrangements are by Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home.
Dr. Bauman graduated from Ashland College, University of Southern California and Ashland Ohio Theological Seminary. He was pastor at Second Brethren Church in Los Angeles for several years. He was vice president of Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, and retired as vice president of LeTourneau College in Longview.
While in Longview, he led and directed more than 50 tours to the Holy Land and gave many illustrated lectures relating to biblical events and prophecy. He was a lifelong member of Grace Brethren Church. He was a charter member of Brethren Home Missions Council and was president of the board for more than 10 years. He served on the board of Missionary Tech Team in Longview.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Aldine Aungst. Survivors include his wife, Irene; two daughters, Mary Black and husband, Dr. James Black, and Carolyn Rutherford and husband, the Rev. Arch Rutherford; a son, Paul Bauman Jr. and wife, Carol; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Dan Smith; six stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Missionary Tech Team, 25 FRJ Drive, Longview, TX 75602.
