Donald was born December 8, 1926 in Wabash to Charles Oscar and Eldora Pearl (McEndeffer) Thrush.

Donald was a Chippewa High School graduate. He worked at O.J. Neighbors Elementary School as a green thumb helper, and retired from Stone Industries in Wabash. Donald was a US Navy veteran during WWII.

He is survived by four children, Larry (Linda) Thrush, and Donna Sparling, both of Wabash, Darlene (John) Monsey of Andrews, Indiana, and Robin Thrush of California; sister, Marguerite Robbins; and brother, James Thrush, both of Wabash. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
