Paul W. Graebing, 87 of Orchard Lane, Calcutta, OH died on Friday, May 18, 2007 at the East Liverpool Convalescent Center #2 following a lengthy illness. He was born in New Brighton, PA on January 31, 1920, a son of the late Dale O. and Bertha A. (Rose) Graebing.
Living most of his life in this area, he worked as a roller at the former Crucible Steel Mill in Midland, PA for 42 years. He was a member of Longs Run Presbyterian Church where he was a former elder and chairman of the property committee. He was a member of the choir and the men's bowling league of the church as well as a member of the Grange and Boy Scouts of America Troop #36. Serving in the US Army, 4th Armored Division during World War II, Mr. Graebing was the 3rd Army's Radio Operator serving under General George Patton.
His wife, Freda G. (Grimes) Graebing, whom he married on December 24, 1946; two sons: Phillip Graebing of Pittsburgh, PA and Rev. Jeffrey Graebing and his wife, Lorain of Fredericksburg, OH; three daughters: Rebecca Bailey of Calcutta, OH, Patricia Reed and her husband, L. Frank of Ontario, OH and Paula May Ann Madish and her husband, Mike of Berwick, PA; two sisters: Helen Graebing and Dorothy Mahoney both of Fredericksburg, OH; 10 grandchildren: Deirdre Ponton, Sonya Joy, David Bailey, Aeron Bailey, Theresa Foutts, Caitlyn Reed, Meredith Neiderhiser, Paul W. Graebing, Carrie Daugherty and Brittany Graebing as well as 11 great grandchildren: Savana and Aubrey Ponton, Dustin, Shawn, Tyler, Ashley and Taran Fullerton, Andria McDole, Elise Neiderhiser, and Shayde and Robert Daugherty survive him.
Besides his parents, a daughter, Mary Alice Joy; one brother: William Graebing and one sister: Pauline McPeek preceded him in death.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. William Betteridge of Riverside Presbyterian Church of Wellsville officiating. The Tri State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
Following the service, family & friends will gather at Longs Run Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
A private burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
