Funeral services for Carlus Henry GIBSON, 78, of Conroe, Texas, were held on Monday, October 28, 2002 at 2 P.M. in The Chapel of Conroe Funeral Directors in Conroe with Brother Barry Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Conroe Memorial Park. The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 27 from 1 until 5 p.m.

Mr. GIBSON was born on June 23, 1924 in Flippin, Arkansas and passed away on October 24, 2002 in Conroe, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. (Sr.) and Fern MOON GIBSON and his two sisters Edith METHVIN and Joy CHILDS.

Mr. GIBSON was a retired machinist with Cameron Iron Works in Houston where he worked for over 29 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the battleship Maryland and participated in many major battles in the Pacific. Mr. GIBSON was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Porter, Texas, a charter member of the Sam B. Crawford Masonic Lodge in New Caney, Texas, and a longtime member of the Scottish Rites - Valley of Houston. For many years he served as captain of the Watch Patrol in his neighborhood.

He is survived by his loving family: wife of 49 years, Nita GIBSON of Conroe; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Steve LATOUR of Kingwood, TX; sons, Don and Larry GIBSON, both of Conroe; and daughter Alida GIBSON of Spring, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law, Billie Joe and Jewell GIBSON of Durango, Colorado, and Walter L. GIBSON, Jr. of Conroe; sisters and brother-in-law, Thelma and Gene METHVIN of Crosby, Texas, Mae BRIGGS of Flippin, Arkansas, Lena PAMPLIN of Deer Park, Texas and Georgia Lee KELLEY of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Nicole PIEPER and her husband, David, Paul LATOUR, Danielle WINTERS, Michael WINTERS, Manda GIBSON, Tanya GIBSON, and Seath GIBSON; many other relatives and dear friends survive as well. Mr. GIBSON was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather who touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all his loving family and ear friends.
