Little is known at this time about Carl. The Colorado State Archives website contains a page called:

"Denver War Risk Insurance Applicants 1916 - 1919"

from which the following data was gleaned:

Name: Cunningham, Carl W
Rank/Organization: Rct A Ssc
Record No.: 853
Page: 63

It's unsure whether this is the same Carl or not; but it's possible.

George Swinbourne "Pa" Cunningham was married to Florence "Fanny" Foster Cunningham [c. 1874 - c. 1897] on June 15, 1892 in Gibson County, TN. [I started a memorial for her; but I have not been successful at finding her burial site yet or that of Carl's. If anyone has a clue, please share it.]

George and Fanny had three boys: Carl, Joe and Earl. Carl was the oldest and was born somewhere in Colorado. Joe was born in Silado, CO but died in Tennessee. Joe had probably already died before my grandfather Earl Rush Cunningham was even born; and according to my mother, Fanny lived for only a few days after that. Fanny's death and Earl's birth both occurred in Gibson County, TN. After her death my great grandfather George could not handle the grief and decided to move back to Colorado without the children. So my grandfather Earl was raised by two old maid aunts, Mary Jane and Emma. Mom couldn't remember for sure where Carl was raised or by whom, but it was also probably with these same two aunts. Carl would have been only about 3 years old at the time Earl was born. So it makes sense that both boys would have been raised together. It's still unclear whether or not this is actually true though.

My Mom says Pa Cunningham did not return until after my grandparents (Earl and Lucy) were already married. This was on Dec. 24, 1918. So Carl would have been about 25 years old by that time. Carl would have been about 38 or 39 when he died.
