One of Adair County's prominent citizen's, Benjamin Logan Royse, passed away shortly after 1:00 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home near Garlin. He died on his 78th birthday.
The son of Soloman and Nellie Tupman Royse, the deceased was born in Adair County and spent the greater part of his life on his farm in the Pleasant Grove community.
His interests, although varied, centered mainly around the home. He was known as one of the better stock farmers of the county and actively engaged in his work until declining health made it necessary to dispose of his farm. In January of this year, he moved to a smaller farm near Garlin.
At the age of eighteen, he was converted and joined the Pleasant Hill Christian Church, where he still retained his membership.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Veloria Evans Royse, and one daughter, his only child, Mrs. A.D. Allison, three grandchildren, Misses Ruth and June Allison and Joseph Allison; one sister, Miss Hattie Royse, of Columbia, and four brothers, W.A. Royse, of Albany, Mo., J.T. Royse, of West Point, Miss., Edgar Royse, of Thomasville, N.C., and George Royse, of Russell Springs.
The funeral services were held at the home in Garlin at 2:00 p.m. today, conducted by the Rev. H.J. Conover. Interment was in the Columbia Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: Messrs. Amly Royse, Baruch Royse, Edgar Royse, Ores Royse, Jesse Murrell and Robert Pelly.
