Date: Thursday, September 29, 1988

OPELIKA -- Mr. John Alf Scroggins, 91, of Oeplika, died Wednesday at Opelika Health Care.

Graveside servcies are scheduled for Shawmut Cemetery Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Herbert Gray officiating.

Mr. Scroggins is survived by one daughter, Colleen Perce of Tewksbury, Mass.; one son, John Scroggins of Opelika; two brothers, Lee Scroggins and Harlen Scroggins both of West Point; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Scroggins was born January 5, 1887 in Tallapoosa County. He was a member of Shawmut Christian Church. Mr. Scroggins was a carpenter and had formerly lived in the Shawmut area.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Johnson Brown-Sevice Funeral Home in Valley.

Johnson Brown-Service Home in Valley is handling arrangements.
