ENCINITAS - a fundraiser is planner to raise money for a scholarship in memory of one of three people killed in a car crash near Bishop on Aug. 9, 2010. Three other were critically injured.

Cathedral Catholic High School student Amanda Post of Olivenhain was remembered in a memorial service Aug. 16. But her spirit is still very much alive with her friends and family. As a means of honoring her life, the Amanda Post Foundation has been established.

The first community wide fundraiser will be held Sept. 2 at all three Leucadia Pizzeria locations. The local business is donation 20 percent of all proceeds from the day's tally to the scholarship fund. "We want to encourage everyone to go to Leucadia Pizzeria that day," said Gregory Post, Amanda's father.

Post, 18, was as an honor's student who was described by her father as a kind, asventurous person. Post was set to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall on a track scholarship. She and her father attended freshman orientation just days before the fatal accident. Besides her father, Post is survived by her mother, Missy; brothers, Brian and Kevin; and sister, Hilary.

"We just want to tell everyone how grateful we are to the whole North County community for holding us in their arms and the love they have expressed for our family," Gregory Post said. "It's been humbling."

Amanda Post,Natalie Nield, and former classmates Derek Thomas, 19, and Drew Delis, 22, both of Encinitas, were in an SUV with professional athletic trainer, John Nathan Adams, 39, a Cardiff-by-the-Sea resident, when the crash occurred about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 9.

Donors can give at anytime by making check contributions payable to: Amanda Post Scholarship Fund, c/o San Diego Foundation, Attn: Community Scholarship Program, 2508 Historic Decatur Road, Suite 200, San Diego, Ca 92106.
