George E. Dorrance was born on February 28, 1868, in Elk Fork, Pettis County, Missouri, died on March 29, 1958, in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, at age 90, and was buried in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Springfield, Greene County, Missouri.

His parents were Mary Jane Ham and Isaac R. Dorrance. They had five children: Angieleex, born in 1866; George, born in 1868; Viola, born in 1869; Joel, born in 1872; and Laura, born in 1874. According to the Sedalia Daily Democrat, when Mary died on May 12, 1875, at age 29, she left four children. Angieleex preceded her in death; and Joel did not survive childhood.

He married Maud Janes on February 24, 1892, in Pettis County, Missouri.

Maud Janes was born on Jun 1873 in Missouri, died in 1962, about age 89, and was buried in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Springfield, Greene County, Missouri.

Their son, Earl Edwin Dorrance was born on April 2, 1893, in Pettis County, Missouri, died on June 8, 1933, in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri, at age 40, and was buried in Neosho, Newton County, Missouri.

Their son, Versey Doyle Dorrance was born on December 6, 1897, in Missouri, died on May 26, 1962, in San Bernardino, California, at age 64.

Their daughter, Doreen Dorrance Moore was born in 1910 in Missouri, died June 6, 2000, at age 90, in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri.

George, Maud, and the children spent the early 1900's in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. When Maud and George went to Colorado, they were homesteading. He worked as a laborer. By 1910, the family had returned to Neosho, Newton County, Missouri, where George farmed.
