Melvin N. Remaklus, age 90, of Lorain, died Sunday July 5th. He was born in Lorain on January 30, 1919 and was a graduate of Lorain High School. Mr. Remaklus was employed as a machinist for the American Crucible Company of Lorain from which he retired in 1975. He was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter. Mel was a talented vocalist and served as a proud member of the St. Peter Choir and was a former member of the St. Joseph (Lorain) Church Choir. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing softball in the Lorain City League. A social member of Post 1 of the Italian American Veterans, he was an avid fan of both the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers professional sports franchises. He is survived by sons Ronald (wife Patricia) of Lorain, Dale (wife Ellen) of Amherst, and Joe (wife Valerie) of Wellington, by grandchildren Cheryl Desko, Krisite Corlett, Scott Remaklus, Brian Remaklus, Mike Remaklus, Mark Remaklus, Rachael Wagner, and Nicole Wagner, and by great grandchildren Tyler, Zachary, Abigail, Jenny, and Stetson. He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie (nee Grandini) in 2004, by his parents Nicholas and Cecelia (nee Barnes), and his sister Dolores Jakubowski.
