1843 - GA, Cherokee Co., Per " The Southern Christian Advocate" from the issue of January 5, 1844 Vol. VII No 30, page 120.

Died of Nervous, inflaminatory fever, at her residence, in Cherokee Co., GA On 26th November, 1843, Sister Elizabeth Sampler wife of the Rev. William Sampler, and daughter of Whorton and Saloma Ballard, aged 36 years, 10 months, and 10 days. Sister Sampler, was blessed with pious parents who had her dedicated to God, in infancy, as they did all their children, Eleven in number, and had the gratification of seeing them all acceptable members of the Church. At the age of Twelve, she obtained a clear evidence of her conversion and joined the M. E. Church, of which she lived and died an exemplary member. She was married the 24th August, 1826, and for the last Six years of her life passed through many afflictions which she bore with patience and christian fortitude, Being the wife of a minister of the gospel she endeavored by her prayers and godly admonitions, to help him on his the great work of saving souls. On the third day of her illness, Sister S. said to her husband. "I shall soon be gone to rest, with my father who is gone before." Owing to the nervous affliction of her head, she was unable to talk much, being very delirious. A few hours before she died, she recovered the possession of reason and called her weeping husband to her. Embraced him, and delivered her dying charge to him and her children. Then said she "I am going home" and endenvoured to sing. From that time till death she was often heard to shout "Glory Glory." She has left a husband and Nine children. ( the three eldest sons? ) and members of the church to mourn their loss REV. Wm. H. Evans.
