1930 United States Federal Census (09 April 1930): Seattle, King County, Washington (sheet 23B, family 296, 6916 Weedin Pl.) – Wilson Haslam (11 Washington).

Wilson was a graduate of Stadium High School, Tacoma, Washington – Class of 1936.

1940 United States Federal Census (20 April 1940): Seattle, King County, Washington (sheet 61A, household 52, 3007 4th Ave W) – Wilson Haslam (21 Washington). He and his family had lived in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington in 1935. Wilson had completed 3 years of college. He was a janitor's helper at school.

Wilson graduated (Bachelor of Arts Degree) from Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, Washington with the Class of 1940.

Wilson Burbank Haslam (22, 16 October 1918, Seattle, Washington), a resident of 3007 4th Ave W., Seattle, King County, Washington, signed up for his World War II Draft Registration Card (Serial No. 3411, Order No. 2910) on 16 October 1940 in Seattle, King County, Washington. Wilson was employed by Shell Oil Company. Wilson listed his father, E. A. Haslam, as the person who would always know his address. He was described as (no height and weight given), with a dark complexion, brown hair and blue eyes.

Wilson B. Haslam (1918 Washington), a resident of King County, Washington, enlisted as a Private (S/N 19094748) in the U.S. Army Air Corps on 24 March 1942 in Seattle, Washington. He was single, had completed 4 years of college and had been working as a station manager for Shell Oil in Seattle.

Wilson graduated from the primary flying school at the army flying training detachment at Oxnard, California on 06 November 1942. He then was sent to Minter Field, California and Williams Field, Chandler, Arizona for additional training.

Wilson Burbank Haslam, of 7039 South Oakes St., Tacoma received his silver wings and a commission as a second lieutenant (S/N O-740185) in March 1943 at Williams Field, Chandler, Arizona.

Loads he has flown total more than 2,000,000 pounds since he came overseas in the Southwest Pacific...

1st Lt. Wilson B. Haslam was the pilot on a Curtiss C-46D-5-CU Commando (C-46D #44-77360) with the 70th Squadron, 433rd Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force. The C-46D #44-77360 took off at about 1630, 15 March 1945, with a crew of 4 and 21 passengers, on a ferrying mission from Elmore Field, Mindoro, Philippine Islands to Tanauan, Leyte, Philippine Islands. On approach in poor weather conditions, the plane crashed into a mountain located 6 kms (3.75 miles) northwest of San Roque, south of Tanauan, Leyte, Philippine Islands. The entire crew and all passenger were killed.

Lieut. Wilson B. Haslam, 26 years old, a member of the Fifth Air Force, and a graduate of Seattle Pacific College, was killed in action on Leyte Island, the War Department had notified his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. E. A. Haslam of Tacoma, the Associated Press reported.

1st Lt. Haslam was first buried in 7740 USAF Cemetery, Leyte #1, Palo, Leyte, Philippines Islands – Grave 216 (D-D 3631). After the war (autumn of 1947) his remains (along with 8,568 other American soldiers) were disinterred and brought to the American Graves Registration Service Manila Mausoleum. From there, according to the wishes of his next of kin (mother, Mrs. Eleanor B. Haslam), First Lieutenant Wilson Burbank Haslam was buried in his final resting place in the 7701 Ft. McKinley Cemetery (now known as the Manila American Cemetery) – Plot N, Row 3, Grave 141.

Awards: "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal.
