Milton served as a Staff Sergeant & Assistant Engineer on B-24J (#44-40568), 370th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Wisconsin prior to the war.

Milton was declared "Missing In Action" over the island of Borneo when his B-24 was attacked and shot down by Japanese aircraft during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.

The entire crew of 10 was lost on this flight and were not declared as being "officially" dead until March 15, 1946.
