Glen served as a Seaman First Class, , U.S.S Spence ( DD-512 ), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Westport, Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war. Glen enlisted in the Navy on November 4, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland.

The U.S.S Spence was part of Task Force 38 (TF 38) which had been operating about 300 miles east of Luzon in the Philippine Sea, conducting air raids against Japanese airfields in the Philippines and had been trying to refuel their ships. On December 8, 1944 the entire Task Group were engulfed in what was known as " Typhoon Cobra ".

The U.S.S Spence ( DD-512 ) was " 1 " of " 3 " destroyers that sank as a result of the typhoon.

Glen was declared "Missing In Action" in this sinking during World War II.

His death was classified as being in the " Line Of Duty " since there was not any enemy involvement.

Service # 2585496

His brother, PFC Edgar C. Britzman, was also declared "Missing In Action" during the war.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Britzman.
