Raymond served as a Sergeant & Radio Operator on C-87 #41-23669, 3rd Squadron, 1st Ferry Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Washington County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 5, 1941, prior to the war, in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of textiles and also as Single, without dependents.

C-87 #41-23669 took off, with a crew of 6, from Yangkai, China on a cargo mission to Chabua, India. After take off this C-87 was not heard from or seen again and the entire crew went missing.

Raymond was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
