Private First Class Oakley Shelby Brock was killed in action on Wednesday, November 17th, 1943 19 miles off Cape Torokina, Empress Augusta Bay, Bougainville, Solomon Islands. He was aboard the USS USS McKEAN (APD-5) when it was struck by a Japanese aerial torpedo and sank. PFC Brock was serving with M Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force when he died. Rest in peace.
