Over their target the B-25s were attacked by approximately fifteen Japanese Zeros for approximately twenty minutes. B-25C #41-12448 was last seen being engaged by two Zeros and losing altitude with both engines in flames. The entire crew was lost.
Albert was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
