B-24M #44-50659 took off from Mindora, Philippines on a search mission to Lower Indo-China. Due to extremely bad weather they became lost on their return trip to Mindora. Once the fuel was almost gone the pilot, 1st Lt. Mervin E. Sheriff, instructed the crew to bailout which they all did successfully.
The B-24 crashed into the sea near San Narcisco, Philippines.
Henry was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
