Son of Mrs. Anna Wallace of Timpson, Texas he entered the Army Air Corps in 1941. He was the Radio Operator/Aerial Gunner on a crew of five assigned to B-25 Mitchell Bomber # 41-12470 at Charter Towers, Queensland, Australia, 90 Bomb Squadron, 3 Bomb Group (Light). On July 26th, 1942 his bomber was the lead plane of five that took off on a mission to attack enemy seaplanes anchored off Gasmata. At 8:15 am the formation was attacked by nine Japanese Zero fighters. The plane of Corporal Wallace was last seen going down on fire from nose to tail and the crew of five were never recovered. His awards included two Silver Stars, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart.
