Edgar served as a Torpedoman's Mate Second Class, PT-337, U.S.S. Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Twenty-Four, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Navy on November 13, 1942 in Houston, Texas.

Edgar was declared "Missing In Action" when PT-337 was sunk by Japanese fire in the Pacific area during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
