Casualty of the Great War, Ernest died on the day Great Britain declared war on Germany and he is held to be one the first four casualties of the conflict. War was declared at 23.00 hours but although he died before that time, commemoration as war dead commenced on that date, without any specific time. He served as a Boy Servant in the Royal Navy-H.M.S. "Victory"~Service No:L/4914

He was 16/17 and the son of Charles and Elizabeth Brackley of Acton, London.
