Thomas Bart "Rabbit" Fuqua Jr., 88, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the Forrest Oaks Nursing Home. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday July 28, at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Schibbler officiating. Burial followed at Gentry Mills Cemetery.
Rabbit was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Hamilton County, Texas, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bart Sr. and Adeline Kirkland Fuqua. He married Evelyn Shipman March 2, 1941. Rabbit was a farmer and rancher in the Hamilton County area for many years, and was a member of the Littleville Baptist Church. He served Hamilton County for many years as a commissioner. Rabbit was loved and adored by all that knew him. For many years Rabbit would visit the residence in the nursing homes in town every Sunday. He enjoyed visiting with the people and making sure that they were doing fine. Rabbit always had a handshake and a smile for anyone that wanted to just sit and visit for a while.
Rabbit leaves behind his wife, Evelyn Fuqua, of Hamilton; children, Judy Kinslow, of Clyde, Texas, Peggy Boatright and husband, Jim, of Hamilton, Ricky Fuqua and wife, Christy, of Hamilton, and Tommy Fuqua and Holly, of Hamilton; grandchildren, Mike, Gary, and Adam Kinslow, Josh Boatright and Angela Tubbs, Rusty Fuqua, Misty Gann and Monica Andrews, Michelle Neal, and Kirby and Megan Massingill; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Kinslow, Gary Kinslow, Adam Kinslow, Rusty Fuqua, Glen Ray Shipman and Justin Tubbs.
The staff of Riley Funeral Home is going to miss the stories, smiles, and dear friendship that Rabbit shared with us for many years over a cup of coffee. Riley Funeral Home, Hamilton
