Raymond served as a Staff Sergeant & Ball Turret Gunner on B-17 "Pat Hand" #42-30607, 337th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on September 12, 1942 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the building of aircraft and also as Single, with dependents.
Raymond was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, while returning from a bombing run in the Hispano/Suisa complex, was hit by enemy ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed in Central Paris, France during the war.
He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
It is currently unknown why he wasn't interred side by side with the other 7 crew members.
