Son of C. Harold Sheaffer and Esther Kurtz Sheaffer.
Harold, who resided in Newark, Delaware, served as a 2nd Lieutenant and navigator on a B-17 with the 527th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted as being employed as a Bookkeeper and also as being Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" over Holland after a mission over Halberstadt, Germany.
He had served in the Air Corps for two years and one month at the time of his death and was decorated with an Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
