Staff Sergeant, 341st Bomber Squadron, 97th Bomber Group (Heavy), U.S. Army Air Forces. Entered the service from New York; civilian occupation: actor. He was serving as a radio operator on a B-17 on a mission to bomb Regensburg, Germany; his plane was hit and went down about ten minutes after going over the target. Awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. Brother of playwright Horton Foote
