Millard Edward Vandermark was born 23 Dec 1919 in Masonville, Delaware Co, NY the youngest of three children born to the marriage of Jay G. Vandermark and Helen A. Pellett.

Shortly after his birth, the family moved to and resided at 226 Front Street, Deposit, Delaware Co, NY where he grew up.

In 1940 he was working as an assistant for a trucking company.

On 09 Mar 1943, his son Millard Edward Vandermark, Jr was born and on 29 Mar 1943 he enlisted in the US Army at Utica, Oneida Co, NY as a Private First Class into the 133rd Infantry 34th Division. He was stationed in Anzio, Provincia de Roma, Lazio, Italy.

On 01 Jun 1944 he was killed in action in Anzio, Provincia de Roma, Lazio, Italy, aged 24 years, 5 months and 9 days.

He received the Purple Heart.
