John served as a Private First Class in the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 403 Alexander Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 4, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" in Italy during the war and was awarded a "Silver Star", by G.O. No. 159, and a Purple Heart.
