Arthur, who resided at 9 Lovelace Avenue, Farnhurst, Delaware, served as a Private with Company E, 504th Parachute Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
He enlisted in the Delaware National Guard on October 22, 1940, prior to the war, in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted at that time as being employed as a Machinist and also as Single, without dependents.
He was "Killed In Action" during fighting in Italy.
He had served in the Army for three years at the time of his death. He was decorated with the Purple Heart.
