Son of Mrs. Mavis Conley who resided in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Robert served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-26B #42-95763, 442nd Bomber Squadron, 320th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Texas prior to the war. Some military records note that he resided in Missouri also.

B-26B #42-95763 took off from Decimomannu, Sardinia on a bombing mission to Marziani during the war. After a successful bombing mission they were attacked by enemy aircraft which caused an on board fire. They crashed at sea approximately 1 mile off the coast of Ladispoli, Italy during the war.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
