Ship's Cook 1/C WWII

He was the husband of Mrs Ruth Jane Easterling of Kannapolis, North Carolina.

He is honored by his family with a cenotaph memorial placed in between his parents' cemetery plot in Rockingham, North Carolina as S1C James A Easterling.

He entered the service on 1 June 1942 and left for foreign service on 4 April 1943. He had been at sea for 10 months, participating in the invasions of Sicily and Salerno, before his death at Anzio Beach, Italy.

He was awarded the EAMET Medal and the Purple Heart.
