Ben was the son of Ben F. Tisinger, Jr. and Nettie Ramsey. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. When inducted into the Army he was a student at North Texas State Teachers College (now North Texas University) at Denton, where he was a leader in work to aid underprivileged children.
Ben gave his life in a vain attempt to save his buddy who was wounded under terrific artillery and machine-gun fire when the line was forced back on a 250-yard front.
Memorial services were held in the First Methodist Church of Denton on April 8, 1945.
