After advancing some distance east of Julich, Sergeant Jolley's unit was temporarily halted by intense enemy fire. Without hesitating, Sergeant Jolley daringly proceeded to lead small groups of his men forward by fire and movement to within a short distance of the enemy positions. Shortly thereafter, Sergeant Jolley led tanks forward to neutralize the positions.
