Casualty of WWII, Lawrence was the Left Waist Gunner in B-17G Flying Fortress 43-37776 490th BG 849 BS. His service number was 19200834 and he entered the service from Oregon.
The aircraft,named "Heavenly Body",was on a night cross-country exercise. Whilst turning, just North of Nailstone, near Ibstock,(a large village in North West Leicestershire, England)the aircraft's nose dropped, and the port wing struck the ground. The machine was completely destroyed by fire and explosion. Sadly, all on board were killed.
