They were the parents of Muriel Frances Cheek.
He enlisted in the Army on March 18, 1940.
On July 10, 1944, in thick fog a military plane, a Noorduyn C-64A Norseman, (a Canadian design built under license by the Americans) was heading for Zeals Airfield carrying American airmen, they were to deliver a tire and wheel for a Lockheed Hudson which was damaged earlier at Preston, Scotland. The pilot requested permission to land at Zeals. Flying Control refused permission because of the bad weather conditions and shortly after the airplane struck the pinnacle of King Alfred's Tower, (the tower is located on the hill just north of the airfield). the plane crashed on Hillcombe Farm, South Brewham, killing the pilot 1st Lt Wilfred Malone 325th Ferrying Sqn, F/Engineer M/Sgt Loyd F Cheek 320th Transport Sqn, Cpl Henry A Mazzei of 320th.
