Douglas served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-25J #43-36128, 77th Bomber Squadron, 28th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Queens County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 10, 1942 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Machinist and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25J #43-36128, along with other B-25's, took off from APO #726, Attu Island, Alaska on an offensive sweep for Japanese fighter planes in the area. They were reportedly shot down by multiple Japanese Army Ki-43 Hayabusa "Oscar" fighter's over the Kuriles and crashed at sea during the war.

Douglas was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Purple Heart.

Son of Mrs. Sophie V. Banker who resided in Jackson Heights, Long Island, New York.

B-25J # 43-36136, which was flying with B-25J #43-36128, also suffered the same fate on the same day.
